Chapter 144: Staying The Night (オトマリ, Otomari)
The innkeeper that rewarded Raku and Kosaki's help with an overnight stay at one of the inn's rooms also mentions that there are no evening weekend buses to get them home. With that, she bids them goodnight. Raku and Kosaki know that there are no spare rooms for them, so they move the futons out a little so that some space is left between them. The innkeeper returns and informs them that the hot spring at the back is ready. What Raku doesn't know until he enters the hot spring, is that it is a mixed spring. As a result, he and Kosaki are both shocked to see each other naked. Raku hides behind a rock to let Kosaki bathe first, but she says they would have to bathe together because they are the hot spring's final customers for the day. Kosaki clarifies that she trusts Raku because she had no idea that the help she asked Raku for would lead them to this point, and according to their teacher, they had bathed together before. After thinking about it, Raku asks why Kosaki hoped her first love was him. Kosaki faints upon hearing that question, so their bathing session ends early with Kosaki apologizing afterwards. The next day, Raku and Kosaki leave the hot springs resort on the first bus that would take them back to the city. On that bus, they fall asleep due to not sleeping for the whole night before.

Chapter 145: Athletics (タイイク, Taiiku)
It's Sports Day at Bonyari High School. Raku, Kosaki and Chitoge are on the same team pitted against Tsugumi, Ruri and Marika. Raku and Chitoge's clans have also visited to support their heirs. Before the events begin, Raku learns from Shu that the latter was part of the organizing committee for the day. The first event is the females' relay race that Tsugumi's team wins ahead of Raku's. The second event is the three-legged race which Raku and Chitoge race in for their team. They move into the lead having practised the three-legged run together before. But on the last lap, they are presented with an obstacle - a balloon which they have to pop with their bodies. They do so eventually, and win the race. The third event is the bread jump, which Kosaki enters for her team. However, the structure supporting the hanging buns is shaken up and down during the event, making it more difficult for the competitors to reach the buns. As a result, Kosaki finishes last. Both Kosaki and Chitoge suspect that someone is meddling with the events. Before the fourth event which Kosaki and Chitoge would participate in, Tsugumi, who isn't participating, appears in a change of outfit in order to cheer for Chitoge, despite being in a competing team, and doesn't feel comfortable doing so. But when the event starts and Tsugumi cheers, the string top holding her bust gives way. During lunch break, Raku refuses a request from Marika to have lunch with her, so she fits Raku with an "I love Marika" strap around his forehead. Chitoge sees this and reacts accordingly. The final is the scavenger hunt, with Chitoge and Kosaki competing against Tsugumi and Marika. They are all assigned to scavenge "that special someone", to each of their shock. Chitoge and Marika end up asking Raku simultaneously. Raku, knowing that the clans are watching, impulsively chooses Chitoge. Marika decides to concede and let Chitoge's team win the event. Raku demands an explanation from Shu, who doesn't give one back, and is met with an expected response from both Kosaki and Tsugumi.

Chapter 146: Perfect (カンペキ, Kanpeki)
Yui receives glowing feedback from three students outside of her homeroom while Raku and Chitoge look on. Raku wonders to himself whether Yui really needs his support. During a break, Yui carries several books to Misaka, another student not in Raku's class that asked for Yui's help, and turns down Raku's offer to help carry the books. Later on at Raku's home, Yui offers to help with Raku's laundry, while also delivering treats to his Shuei associates, and even takes a call from her Char Siu subordinates. Raku sees this, all the while unaware that Ie is watching. When Raku has his bath, Yui inexplicably joins him by appearing to him naked, with the flimsy excuse that the other bathroom has a problem. Raku reacts by getting out of the bath, putting his robe on and leaving. Ie appears before him again, at a window, warning him before leaving. The next day, before the end of school, Raku rushes back to his classroom to fetch his math book, only for Yui to await him there having cleaned the classroom. She gives a one-on-one math tutorial on a problem she remembered Raku said had a problem with. During the lesson, Yui suddenly collapses on her left side.

Chapter 147: Yui-Nee (ユイネエ, Yuinee)
Ie responds to Yui's emergency by infiltrating Raku's classroom and urging him to take her home. There, Ie treats Yui with a brew of herbs. Ie notes that Yui fainted from overwork. According to Ie, Yui knowingly pushes herself because she doesn't want to be alone. She tells Raku that his support helped Yui skip a grade during elementary school, but because of that, she stopped making friends due to her age, and not long afterwards, her parents died. As part of the hereditary custom, Yui became the Char Siu group's next leader and turned their fortunes around before finally making her return to Japan. Ie says this was all for Raku's sake, as Raku ended up becoming the only person she knew well enough to trust. By nightfall, Yui is woken up by the sound of her phone ringing. Yui suddenly panics over the work she has to do, but Raku calms her down, saying that she needs to rest. After Raku tells Yui that Ie told him about her tendency to overwork, he offers to help as her little brother, and even pats her on the head. This leaves Yui in tears, and Raku with a sense of deja vu. Suddenly, Yui's Char Siu subordinates storm into the room she was resting in, all of whom were worried for their boss. Raku admits that he told them about her situation.

Chapter 148: Successor (アトツギ, Atotsugi)
On Yui's return to her teaching duties, she acts as if she had never collapsed from overwork. Raku goes out to the corridor to remind her of that, and even brushes dirt off her shoulder in a way that makes her blush. When they return home, they notice that the wall separating their rooms has disappeared. Ie appears before them and admits culpability, saying that it's to get them closer to marriage. There is no one else in the family that can succeed as the leader of Char Siu, and also warns Raku that it's his fate, because the Char Siu has the Beehive in its back pocket. Ie then departs. Yui admits to having Ie as a mentor, and doesn't feel capable of opposing her despite her own position. In the morning, Yui wakes up to find that her wardrobe's underwear has been replaced with lingerie not to her fancy. Then, at school later that day, Raku finds that his math book has been stuffed with photos of Yui, which does not please Chitoge sitting next to him. When Yui returns home, her bathroom is seemingly fixed, so she enters naked, only to find Raku already occupying it, and backs away in shock. Raku has the courtesy to get out having dressed himself, and offer Yui the bath, while also reminding her that as a sister, she's free to tell him if anything's wrong. That night, Yui finds that her futon is gone, and pleads to share Raku's. Raku knows it's a setup by Ie, and continues to keep his distance from Yui. But when Yui hugs him, the floor they were on flips up to reveal a mechanical structure that Ie was operating on, and both Yui and Raku become trapped.

Chapter 149: Ojou (オジョウ, Ojou)
On a day after school, Chitoge suddenly decides that she wants to try oyakodon (rice with chicken and egg). Tsugumi, who is told, doesn't know how to cook the dish, so she and Chitoge call Raku up for help. Raku is impressed at how tidy Tsugumi keeps her kitchen. Just then, she notices a button on Raku's shirt about to fall off, and offers to sew it back for him. Only then does Raku remember that Tsugumi is an orphan, and thus had to take care of household chores for her own sake. Raku thus reveals to Tsugumi that he has an orphan friend, without giving anything more away. Tsugumi brushes off Raku's worry, saying that she was never lonely because of her upbringing under Claude alongside Paula. She also reveals that Chitoge was the first person to call her Tsugumi. Following that, she recalls what Chitoge told her the last time they were in the bath together, though closes off with a warning shot to Raku, before handing back his fixed shirt and returning to the kitchen. They prepare the meal and deliver it to Chitoge together, the latter not happy that Raku is there. They watch Chitoge try out an oyakodon-ramen that they made together. Chitoge's reaction is a positive one.

Chapter 150: Deciding Groups (ハンギメ, Hangime)
The second-year students' field trip draws close. Yui announces that their destination will be Kyoto. Marika, who has been there before, has already prepared a thorough guide for Raku's sake, but Tsugumi stops her, saying that the field trip is for team-building purposes. All of Chitoge, Kosaki and Marika are also aware of the Jishu Shrine at their destination, which is dedicated to a deity of love. Yui then interrupts, announcing that the teams for the field trip are to be made through a random draw. Despite that, Class 2-C's named characters are placed in the same group regardless... apart from Raku, who finds that everyone in his group are the male students that were jealous of him, and finally rejoice. On the day he is due to depart, Raku helps an old lady direct to her destination, then finds that he is running late. Yui calls him and directs him to where a taxi will pick him up to send him to the train station, along with another person who is running late. That person happens to be Kosaki.

Chapter 151: Trouble (トラブル, Toraburu)
At their local train station, Raku and Kosaki guess that the rest of their class are already a third of the way there. They buy return tickets to Kyoto and eventually get on their train. Raku admits disappointment at not being able to sightsee with Kosaki and the rest of her group. Kosaki decides that she will not join with her group in that case, to Raku's shock. However, when Raku and Kosaki's train reaches Nagoya, reports of strong winds further west prevents the train from departing. With cancellation of their train a possibility, Raku and Kosaki switch to the slower mainline service. An obstruction on the mainline track near Maibara forces them to switch to a bus, which subsequently breaks down, leaving them with no choice but to hail a taxi, which also breaks down on the way. By then, it's already the afternoon. They are fortunately saved by a pickup truck driver who lets them ride the back of it. But he gets lost too, forcing Raku and Kosaki to make the rest of their way on foot. At their Kyoto hotel, Yui and the rest of the named students are happy to see Raku and Kosaki finally arrive. But later at night, the hotel reports flooding in one of the two rooms allocated to Raku's group. Raku loses at rock-paper-scissors and has to sleep in a separate room far from the rest of his group. He gets ready to sleep in said room, only to notice Chitoge peeking in from outside.

Chapter 152: Sound Asleep (グッスリ, Gussuri)
Raku lets Chitoge in through the window of his stand-alone room. She holds back on admitting feelings for Raku, instead claiming that Claude is watching them, so they'd have to fake being a couple again, even though they're in different groups during the field trip. She lets Raku know of a time when they're not in their groups, so that he can join her. Raku, for the first time, thinks he is happy that Chitoge has come to see him. Just then, a teacher warns of an impending inspection, thus Raku hides himself and Chitoge under the bed. The teacher comes in and assumes that Raku has gone to bed. He is then distracted by a phone call while still within full view of Raku's room. Both Raku and Chitoge try their best to keep still. Thankfully, the teacher leaves when his phone call ends and he shuts the door, but before Chitoge can leave, it rains outside with added thunder, causing Chitoge to cower again. As the thunderstorm continues, Raku suddenly finds Chitoge sound asleep. It only stops raining by sunrise, and when Chitoge wakes up, she has no recollection of what happened. During their breakfast meet, Raku notes that Chitoge had left his room by the time he woke up. He sees Chitoge pass by him again. Chitoge almost drops her tray, but manages to sit with other students and makes up a lie about what happened the night before. After the first group assignment, Yui allows the students some free time before their next scheduled meeting. The first thing he sees is Tsugumi joining a swordplay demo on a Kyoto street.
