Chapter 218: It's Kind Of... (ナンダカ, Nandaka)
Chitoge arrives at the Tenku Plateau, known to be the place where she met Raku and Kosaki twelve years ago. She starts looking around for more clues. Meanwhile, just as Raku gets ready to leave home, Yui visits him, having found out where he's going. Yui wishes him good luck since she has to teach summer classes later. Yui doesn't pass up the opportunity to ask if Raku knows who he likes yet. Raku says he knows, but doesn't want to hear what Yui knows yet. Yui also borrows Raku's locket for Ie to quickly retrieve the missing piece of Yui's key from inside it. This was how Yui knew the locket wouldn't open, as she remembered Raku's old friends trying to open it. Nevertheless, Yui believes that the correct key should be able to open the locket now, and also discloses that she doesn't know what's inside the locket. By night-time, Raku arrives at his destination alongside Kosaki, Ruri and Shu. The hotel they've checked into earlier had reported that Chitoge also checked in with them. They then agree to split in two pairs to find Chitoge. Raku and Kosaki go together, both noting that they're unable to contact Chitoge by phone. Just then, Claude appears to them both from a distance. Raku urges Kosaki to continue by herself, claiming he knows how to approach Claude, and will get back to her when he's done. Kosaki nervously backs off just as Claude reiterates his intention to keep Raku away from Chitoge. When Raku doesn't back down, Claude draws out a gun, only for Tsugumi to intervene on Raku's side.
Chapter 219: In the End (ヤッパリ, Yappari)
Tsugumi urges Raku to continue looking for Chitoge. Claude is not impressed that his apprentice has undertaken another stance against him. Contrary to Tsugumi's claim, he also claims to know why Chitoge went missing - to escape from Raku. Tsugumi merely restates this as a reason for Raku and Chitoge to see each other. When Claude becomes horrified at what Tsugumi implies, she grins that she indeed intended for Raku and Chitoge to get together, having seen for two years how their relationship has developed from its false start. With no other way to reason with Tsugumi, Claude pulls the trigger. Both Kosaki and Chitoge see a blast in the distance. Just then, Raku stumbles across the old children's hospital that he eventually remembers being in, seeing Marika every day all those years ago. Marika herself arrives from behind on a parachute, dropping onto Raku's back with glee. She sees the old hospital she was being treated in, and then claims that Raku knows who he loves now, because Yui contacted her about it. Marika turns her key clockwise on Raku's locket and finds that it doesn't work, confirming that she was not the girl Raku promised, but knows who that girl is nonetheless. Marika remembers what happened at the time, but pretended not to, in a vain pursuit of Raku. Now she knows Raku's mission and will leave him to it, but, Marika warns that she hasn't given up on Raku, and will claim him for herself if he screws up. Raku kindly apologizes, leaving Marika to climb back on the helicopter she had parachuted off of. Marika lets Raku know that Chitoge is climbing the hill ahead, and wishes him good luck. Raku responds by saying he's glad he got to be friends with Marika, who warmly echoes the sentiment. Kosaki, meanwhile, stumbles on something familiar in the woods.
Chapter 220: The Last Page (サイゴノ, Saigono)
Kosaki has found an abandoned mansion at the Tenku Plateau. At the same time, Chitoge finds the small rocky peak on top of the hill she just climbed, recognizing it from Raku's story about meeting the promised girl. Kosaki, meanwhile, eventually finds a way past the fencing of the mansion, which she remembers that Chitoge's family used to live in, and she came to visit. As she enters the mansion and walks down its deserted corridor, all her memories start flooding back. Even Haru was there with her at the time, and the sisters had been friends with Raku, Chitoge, Marika, Yui and Tsugumi. She also remembers where Chitoge's old room was, and takes a look inside its closet. The two missing pages of the picture book are found. Where Chitoge currently is, she spots a carving on the rock. This suddenly makes her remember that she personally gave Kosaki the picture book written by Raku's mother, and the day after that happened was when everybody realized they'd be leaving soon, starting with Yui followed by Raku and Chitoge. They had all enjoyed their time together and were sad that they'd have to leave, so they decided on an idea similar to the picture book - that they'd promise to meet again. In fact, it was Chitoge who came up with the idea of getting married.
Chapter 221: The Truth (シンジツ, Shinjitsu)
The 12-years-past flashback continues. Chitoge was first to come up with the lock-and-key idea for keeping the promise to marry Raku. Marika did not take it kindly, claiming Raku already agreed to marry her. Yui stopped them from arguing, and had the idea of getting her father's friend to make a locket and four sets of keys similar to how they saw it in the picture book. The next day, the lock-and-key set arrived. Chitoge and Marika simultaneously demanded for the key that opens the locket, however, Yui said it was Raku's decision. When they asked, Raku chose Chitoge over Marika because he liked long hair on girls. At the same time, Kosaki, who was holding the picture book, inadvertently dropped its last page on the floor. The following day, Chitoge wrote a diary entry claiming excitedly to be looking forward to marrying "you-know-who". When she went off to see Raku, she first noticed the page that dropped from the picture book she gave to Kosaki, so decided to see Kosaki first. Kosaki was at the fabled rock peak tending to Raku by placing a bandage over his nose. After that, she asked if Raku loves Chitoge. Neither were aware of Chitoge hiding behind a tree close to them, yet Raku went ahead and said Kosaki was the one he loved, and wanted to marry. He also hoped Chitoge would understand there were no hard feelings. Kosaki then had the idea of writing something on the rock. They did so before leaving, and Chitoge went to see. It was the carving that broke her heart. Yui met up with the rest of the group before departure, parting with the key that unlocks the locket. Having given it to Chitoge, Yui watched her pass it to Kosaki instead, as she heard Kosaki was the one Raku loved. Chitoge's last words to Raku for ten years were to tell him to take good care of Kosaki. Similarly, Marika's last words to him were to promise he'd marry her if he forgot about Kosaki. Yui smiled at their interactions, merely promising to all of them that she'd meet them again. With that, Raku and Kosaki made the promise to meet again and marry each other.
Chapter 222: Fake (ニセモノ, Nisemono)
The very first scene of Nisekoi is re-enacted, this time with the promised girl's identity revealed. Chitoge, at the same time, had returned to her parents' building, feeling bad about not being the girl Raku loves. While packing up for her own departure, she had put the dropped pages of the picture book in the closet, and slipped her key in her diary. Twelve years later, Kosaki discovers the missing page, and sheds tears for Chitoge, having realized that the latter's actions mirrored those of twelve years prior, and were for her sake. The present-day Chitoge discovers the carving on the fabled rock peak of Raku's memories, and finally understands that she was not to be. She breaks down and cries. Kosaki, meanwhile, thinks about it, and eventually hurries out of the mansion to find Chitoge herself. Chitoge gets up and leaves the rock peak behind, just as the clash between Claude and Tsugumi intensifies. Claude distracts Tsugumi with fake grenades, giving him the chance to pin Tsugumi down at gunpoint. Tsugumi triggers a chain in her sleeve, pulling it on Claude's aiming hand and snatching the gun from him, to then pin him down instead.
Chapter 223: Surprise (イヒョウ, Ihyou)
With Claude at her mercy, Tsugumi convinces him one more time to let go of Chitoge, saying that she has grown up and no longer needs their protection. But Claude, still convinced in his own mind that Raku is weak and hapless, reveals his own reason for bringing up Tsugumi the way he did. It was because he wanted to see Tsugumi marry Chitoge one day. This baffles Tsugumi at first. Eventually, she rips off her shirt to reveal her lingerie. Claude apparently never knew Tsugumi was born female, and because Claude has always held onto his misguided belief in her, Tsugumi says Claude must start to believe in Chitoge, and the decision she has made for herself. Claude concedes. Meanwhile, Ruri and Shu are somewhere else, having seen the battle fade out, and admiring Tsugumi's perseverance. Ruri admits that Chitoge must have discovered that Raku and Kosaki like each other, and thus ran away from them. She feels bad for Kosaki who "won", because Chitoge never opened up over her feelings for Raku sooner. Shu takes a neutral stance, saying that it's touching not only to admit long-harbored feelings like Kosaki did, but also feelings that grew out of contempt like Chitoge did. Ruri then asks if Shu still loves Kyoko. Shu says he does, but it came too late for him to confess, even as Raku pushed him to do it. He has no regrets over how the events unfolded. Ruri finally understands how difficult it is to confess to a crush, and declares that she'll give it a try. Ruri surprises Shu by admitting feelings for him, letting him take all the time he needs to get over Kyoko first. She says so with a smile that unsettles Shu. Meanwhile, on Honda's helicopter, Marika notices Chitoge running away again, and decides to go and see her.
Chapter 224: I Can't Do That (デキナイ, Dekinai)
Marika has climbed down a ladder from Honda's helicopter to tell the fleeing Chitoge to go back where she came, as Raku was waiting for him there. Marika says she knew what happened twelve years ago, and asks if Chitoge really wanted that to happen again. Chitoge depressingly says so, saying that Raku and Kosaki still love each other after all those years. Marika responds with her own disappointment, saying she doesn't have sympathy for anyone who runs away from their own feelings, and even goes as far as avoiding school. Chitoge sheepishly admits to it, but knows she's going to get rejected anyway, and Raku will forget about her. Marika is baffled - she asks how Chitoge knew Raku and Kosaki love each other. When Chitoge replies that she heard Kosaki say it, Marika thinks to herself that Chitoge still doesn't know how Raku feels about her, and that it's possible for Raku to love more than one person. With that, Marika dismisses Chitoge's concerns and pleads for her to go back where she came. Marika cries that she tried numerous times in public to confess to Raku, even doing so in front of Chitoge, and never gave up until she was firmly told "no". So why can't Chitoge do it, tell him how she feels? Why is Chitoge pretending that it's no big deal? This makes Chitoge realize what she's been doing all this time. She gives Marika a quick hug before running away, in tears herself. By sunrise, Raku nears the peak of twelve years ago, looking for Chitoge. On the way, he sees Kosaki there.
Chapter 225: Confession (コクハク, Kokuhaku)
Raku and Kosaki are not far from the peak of their past. Both are glad they escaped the clash from further down the hill. Kosaki asks Raku if he knows why Chitoge ran away. Raku claims, to Kosaki's protests, that it's probably because of him. He only just noticed that Chitoge loses it over small things, but keeps quiet over big things that happen to her. He's always trying to get her to open up over things that make her struggle, even when he'd never know what those where. Kosaki thus sees how Raku has truly started to care for Chitoge. She also decides for herself, to finally let Raku hear her confess her love for him. This brings back all the memories of Kosaki that Raku has, going back to junior high. At this, Raku cries, and so does Kosaki in response.
Chapter 226: Parting (ケツベツ, Ketsubetsu)
When the tears dry, Raku finally admits to reciprocating Kosaki's feelings. Kosaki, with a smile, knows he is no longer able to, because of someone else he has feelings for. With that, she hands over her key. Kosaki claims to know who the girl in Raku's past is, but not what's inside his locket. She also urges Raku to get to Chitoge. Just moments after Raku leaves, Ruri and Shu find Kosaki and approach her from behind. Kosaki doesn't know how to explain how she feels right now, and turns to face Ruri, who is predictably not satisfied with her. Where Raku is, there's no sign of Chitoge anywhere, so he decides to test out the key Kosaki gave to him. To his surprise, that key opens his locket. It contains two matching bead rings meant for the couple-to-be, as well as a letter with Raku and Kosaki's names on it. Raku realizes that the promised one was indeed Kosaki. He reads what his younger self wrote to the current Kosaki, and what the younger Kosaki wrote to his current self. The younger Kosaki's letter ended with "Do you still love me?" Raku drops to his knees and has a hand to his chest. The question clearly hurts. He couldn't tell Kosaki that he loves someone else now. So he makes up his mind to confess to Chitoge, who he finds at the fabled rock peak.
Chapter 227: False Love (ニセコイ, Nisekoi)
Raku keeps a safe distance from Chitoge at the rock peak. There, with her back turned, Chitoge confesses first, noting the moment she first started to realize her feelings for Raku. She also apologizes for running away after hearing from Shu that Raku liked Kosaki. She lets Raku know that she came to the area to find out the truth about the girl Raku promised, and that she now knows it's Kosaki who Raku promised to. Chitoge seems to be about to leave, but Raku informs her that he heard Kosaki confess to him first. He made the difficult decision to turn her down and let Chitoge know, because he has fallen for someone else. The memories he has of Chitoge since her transfer to Bonyari High School start flooding back. Raku describes that person he has fallen for, to Chitoge, until she is sure he is talking about her herself. Raku apologizes for not realizing he loves two people, which caused Chitoge to run away, but insists his mind is set. Chitoge is not happy that Raku would throw away twelve years of love for Kosaki just to reach this decision. Raku says it's because he's happier being with Chitoge. He'd withstand all the arguments and trash-talk between them just to see her laugh, smile and cry. And that's how it should be. Chitoge is still uncomfortable. She refers to herself in third-person and tries to convince Raku to back off from her, because above all, she was not the girl Raku made the promise to. In her words, she's a fake. Raku responds that it's still Chitoge that he wants - the true, genuine, authentic Chitoge Kirisaki. She turns around, having cried all this time, and runs towards Raku for a hug.
Chapter 228: Journey (タビ, Tabi)
The tears dry and they stop hugging. The false couple realize their relationship. Despite this, Chitoge believes she won't be returning to school. Instead, she's decided to take up a job offer from abroad, and might not be able to see Raku for months or even a few years. Raku tells her to go for it, since he'll wait for her to finish. With that, the now-true couple return to where Kosaki, Shu and Ruri were. Kosaki surprises Chitoge, and even leaves her in tears, by giving her a hug. All return home, only for Raku, Kosaki, Shu and Ruri to see off Chitoge and Tsugumi at the airport again by next morning. At the same time, Marika had also returned to the United States to continue her rehab. School then resumes for Raku, Kosaki, Shu and Ruri, with their regular fast-food restaurant visits for study purposes, the cultural festival, Christmas, New Year and their upcoming exams passing by without incident. Raku even hires Yui as a private tutor. At one point, Kosaki respectfully chooses not to bother Raku upon seeing him busy doing school work in the classroom. Eventually, Raku passes his exams, and the Bonyari High senior year students graduate.
Chapter 229: Promise(ヤクソク, Yakusoku)
The final chapter is set several years after the main characters graduate from high school, in the build-up to Raku and Chitoge's wedding.
